Background:
Rapid
advancements of technology in today’s world have been accompanied by the need
for equipping classrooms with the best educational technology. The biggest
challenge in incorporating technology into learning is allowing students to
take advantage of learning technology while ensuring that the class is
productive and well managed. The laboratories management are an important part
in university because the quality of the facilities and their management of the
laboratories would directly affect the quality of teaching and research of the
institution.
Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to develop a
database system that support a Skill
Laboratory management system and to design a database system that support skill
lab management platform.
Methodology:
The
functional modules have been developed, based on a functional analysis of the
characteristics and actual situation of the laboratory management, using a Web-
based, object-oriented and modulated designing approach, namely, the system
management, the lab- teaching management, the lab-information management, student
information management, and the Administrator management modules, which are
made into Web-based laboratory management information system that combines the
B/S and the C/S modes.
Since the laboratory management system is a network
system design, the system is a complex task based on the author's main task is
to carry out the work and the overall system analysis and design, and is
responsible for the design and implementation of the work of several major
subsystems. mainly include:
1. According to the characteristics of laboratory
management and the creation of a new research laboratory information and
management system;
2. The need to create a model and divided into
several modules;
3. Planning
and design laboratory management database;
4. Laboratory management system design subsystems and
partially achieved. Test shows that the
system meets the final proposed foals. The management system should follow
certain software development system, and the various functions of the system
should be closely integrated together to build a complete system. For
standardization, the management system should follow certain development
standards. In order to facilitate the expansion and other system’s access to
the system should follow open standards in the resource structure, properties,
and database design. For cross-platform convenience, distributed deployment of
the management system should be able to run on a variety of platforms
Expected
Outcome: The present system is developed on Local Host. This
system is presently implemented on Local Host but in future it can be modified
and can be implemented on WAN network. Every year more than 80 students trained
successfully in their specific domains with additional computing skills related
to his/her trade. Every year over 50 students trained in short term computer
applications and ready to compete in computer related jobs. Students to access
computers and receive certification(Certificate in Computer Applications) on
completion of basic computer course.
