32-Bit and 64-Bit Editions

What is The Difference between 32-Bit and 64-Bit Editions

Windows Vista is available in both 32- and 64-bit editions. Although it is possible to run a 32-bit edition of Windows Vista on a computer with a 64-bit processor, it is not possible to run a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista on a computer with a 32-bit processor. The primary advantage of a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista is that it allows a computer to use significantly more RAM than the 32-bit edition. The 64-bit editions of Windows Vista are generally used for specialized computing requirements, such as industrial design or computer generated special effects.
